1)To kick things off, could you tell us a little about your career background and current role?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I have what some would consider a non-traditional career path but the one constant has been always working with entrepreneurs.\u00a0 I have worked across multiple industries, in Canada, US, UK, and Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As someone who thrives under pressure, loves to learn and enjoys nothing more than being a part of building something, I was able to jump into projects that allowed me to work with amazing people and execute large-scale initiatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a certain point, I realized I could continue to work for one entrepreneur, or I could take everything I had learned and build a business that allowed me to work with multiple entrepreneurs in a way that creates impact but also aligned with my values.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2019, I created Kinship Kollective to partner with entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals and objectives while overcoming obstacles that have prevented them from executing their vision. It\u2019s done through a unique service offering: execution consulting, at the core of it all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saving entrepreneurs time and money, two commodities that are often in short supply for them. We take their vision and break it down into smaller, execution-focused building blocks that move people – and the business – forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) What does a day in your life look like for you? Can you take us through a recent workday?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No two days are the same, which is why I love what I do!  I manage my time and productivity through time blocking, so I can focus on specific client work and move through tasks in the most efficient way. That might be two hours of interviews, organizing products for a marketing launch, creating an investment deck or managing a team to a specific goal – it all depends on the priorities for the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) What does work-life balance mean to you and how do you work to achieve that goal?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I think that\u2019s an ever-changing spectrum. Working with entrepreneurs lends itself to some non-typical hours and projects \u2013 but that\u2019s the fun of it! There\u2019s a balance of ensuring you\u2019re doing work that lights you up but also creating time for the things that ground you and fulfill you in meaningful ways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I have a couple of weeks with an intense workload, I ensure I commit time for workouts, meditation, and stock up on healthy food in the fridge that requires little preparation.\u00a0 It\u2019s the small things that make such a huge difference!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) In the past 12 months, have you started or stopped any routines or habits to change your life?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meditation is something that\u2019s had a massive impact, but it\u2019s also something that gets easily put off if I\u2019m feeling anxious and overwhelmed. I schedule a calendar reminder to meditate every day so that I\u2019m accountable to making that happen, if the timing doesn\u2019t work (or I\u2019m not in the right headspace), I then need to find time for it somewhere else in my calendar.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I\u2019ve chosen to delete it from my day, when I look at my schedule that week I have a very quick visual on where I have or haven\u2019t spent my time, so it\u2019s a great indicator on how I\u2019m taking care of my well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5) Do you have any favourite books, podcasts or newsletters that you’d like to recommend?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes! I listen to a lot of Tim Ferris podcasts while driving, he\u2019s always creating interesting content and speaks to fascinating guests. In terms of books, I could go on forever!\u00a0 A few of my favourites are The Heroine\u2019s Journey<\/a><\/em>, Traction<\/a><\/em>, Power vs Force<\/a><\/em>, The Death of Expertise<\/a><\/em>, and Mind<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6) If you could read an interview about work-life balance by anyone, who would that be?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I would love a compilation book with contributions from leaders and mavericks from all over the world, with input from different industries and diverse backgrounds. I\u2019d love to read about what work-life balance means to them, with a recap at the end of the similarities and differences and a summary of takeaways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7) Do you have any last thoughts on work, life or balance that you\u2019d like to share with our readers?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everyone is different. What works for one may not work for another. Each individual has to work to understand how they are built and what allows and empowers them to be the best version of themselves, and then create boundaries to maintain and protect that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
